2014 First Look: Global: Sea Surface Temperatures

The U.S. Postal Service® issued its first Global Forever® stamp in January 2013. The round stamp showcased the beauty of our planet with a composite image of Earth created from satellite data and redesigned with 3D computer technology.

In 2014, USPS will release another Forever® international rate stamp, this time featuring a visual representation of our planet’s sea surface temperatures.

The 2014 Global: Sea Surface Temperatures Forever® international rate stamp was designed by art director William J. Gicker. It features one frame from an animated computer model representing our planet’s sea surface temperatures created by the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Issued at the $1.15 rate that goes into effect January 26, 2014, this new Global Forever® stamp can be used to mail a one-ounce letter to any country to which First-Class Mail International® service is available. As with all Global Forever® stamps, this stamp will have a postage value equivalent to the price of a single-piece First-Class Mail International first ounce machinable letter in effect at the time of use.

A release date will be announced soon.
